Poo problems.

Hello again. I have a piggy who I’ve noticed is having slight mucous covered poos and the occasional odd shaped poos.
I just noticed it today, and have since changed his water bottle type, he seems to hate plastic water bottles, and began bene bac.
he does seem to eat a little more pellets, and often lays down when eating

I read many things from dehydration, to the gut shutting down and I just want to be informed ! I see this issue started recently, after a rather large helping of veggies, a little over a half a cup, and before this morning I haven’t noticed much
he’s only had this single odd shaped poo. So it’s not often

It may be a case of a mild upset tummy. Take him off the veg until the poo is back to normal. After 24 hours of normal ones, start introducing veg again, in small amounts. Herbs are the best ones to go to.

Also make sure he only gets a tablespoon of pellets a day.

He’s only 4 months , but I have been limiting pellets to what I feed my other two. Which is around a tablespoon as well. Which none eat fully.
I figured his tummy is just a little upset , which is why I started a little bit of probiotics. luckily my vets still open if it doesn’t clear up!

This looks like a mild tummy upset. Keep in mind that 80% of the daily food should be hay and that veg is perhap 15%. If you feed too much veg, your aren't foing your piggpies any favour because that can cause the gut to unbalance (dysbiosis) and the bad bacteria taking over.

Take your boy off his fresh food and don't overfeed it. Wait at lwats 24 hours until after the poos have normalised before you slowly start with veg again; ideally with some fresh herbs first and then one more variety added with each passing meal.
Don't overfeed pellets either; 1 tablespoon of pellets per piggy per day is enough. The more hay and - with careful gradual introduction - dog pee free and untreated additional fresh grass your piggy eats (provided you have safe access), the better. It is what guinea pigs have evolved on. What most people don't know is that grass is rish in vitamin C and even hay contains it; this is the reason why they have never had the need to make their own in the first place.
A good diet can really add as much as a year or two to a piggy's life span.
