This is grim but here goes..

my guinea's poop is HUGE and squishy and smells pretty.. um gastric? It's not runny or dark, it's just very soft and looks like critical care feed! At first I thought it might be from my other girl who we are trying to get back up to weight with oxbow crit.care, but I noticed today it was indeed girly number 1! I checked the little y shape of her bum and there was soft poop in it.

To make matters weirder her sister has been following her around trying to snoop out her poops (I'm assuming its to look for the coecotropey things as she needs probiotics to counter her antibios). Is there a chance she can pick something up from poopey girl 1? Or does this sound like something else? I'm thinking her poops are so big because she doesnt have the consistency to form multiple normal ones, so she makes one big one.

There hasnt been any diet changes, except I tried them on a corn of ear, celery and some curly Kale yesterday to encourage girl 2 back into eating for herself. Girl number one (the soft pooper) ate some, but doesnt have the voracity for food as much.. plus she isnt so fussed about fresh hay anymore.

P.s. poopey girl had an op just over a month ago for ovarian cysts. We fed her up, then when girl 2 got sick she overfed on all the food as girl 2 wasnt eating. She's back to her 1.2kg from her porkier youth. I noticed the first big soft poop yesterday night and there have been 2 or 3 more today. Her weight doesnt seem effected yet however.

Anyone got any ideas why the really huge squishy poop? I'll be in the vets on Monday with girl 2 anyway so I can find out then, but if girl 1 stops eating, loses weight or her poo looks worse I'm going to visit emergency so no worries there guys. Between my 2 girls these 6 weeks gone I've spent nearly £800 on vets fees :)>>> .. I'm not going to waste that by letting her get sick again in the vain hope that it's nothing!

Please take her off all fresh food (just give her hay and feed the other girl separately). Contact the vet asap if the soft poo turns into outright diarrhea or if it doesn't firm up again within a day or two. Monitor the the weight daily.

Hopefully it is just the new food. You can have times when you might as well rent a room at the vets! :(

P.P.S - her pee is quite a bright orange! I'm guessing this is dehydration.. but it's orange when it's wet.. not just dry.. I'm gonna give her some water when I give leeland her crit care just to make sure :/

If I'm taking her off fresh veg shall I bother syringing extra water? She doesnt drink from a bottle or bowl (though I always leave a bowl out). I'm worried because her pee is orange.

Hey guys, took her into the vets this morning because she has lost a little weight and started panting. Her appetite is off, though she will nibble at stuff and also her and her sister and huddling like crazy! They never really huddle so I think Leeland knows DT feels pants.

The vet doesnt like her chest sounds so has put her on baytril 0.2ml once a day for 10 days. Though she will be coming in with Leeland for her check up to see my extra special vet on Monday so we can look at her again after the weekend. Hope we'll see a pick up in her mood, and we can rule out URI's!
