Duncan was on my lap for cuddles, and I noticed he squeaked a lot before pooping! His poop was weird, it wasn't consistent shape or colour wise. I've noticed a few poops with teardrop ends in the cage, but they both seem healthy. Do we need the vet urgently? Will he be okay?
I'll tag in @Adelle, @Wiebke, @sport_billy, @furryfriends (TEAS), can anyone help? He nibbled some hay, I can't tell if he was eating slowly or not. I'll try and describe his poops.
One was half light brown, half dark brown, with a weird ball shape at one end. The other was the same, but more a tear drop than a ball shape. He squeaked while pooping, I know that. I'm so worried it's GI stasis, my poor baby.

Teardrop shaped poos usually indicate dehydration or some form of gut disturbance. Squeaking while pooping can indicate a UTI as can smaller poos. If this persists you will need to see a vet but as long as he is still eating drinking and pooping it can wait til tomorrow.
Please try to encourage watery veg - a piece of cucumber will help - while you wait to see the vet.

Hi,
Tear shaped poos normal mean that the guinea pig is dehydrated. Has he been drinking? I would take him to the vets if I were you just to be safe, as the squeaking could be a sign of a bladder stone or UTI (uriani tracked infection) hope he gets better soon

Okay, will do. What does the colour mean? It was half light half dark, as well as being oddly shaped. Also, vet? So, we can go tomorrow, will we call up first? Turn up and say is he ill? Call the out of hours number?

Watery veg are a good idea - cucumber or some lettuce which is washed and not thoroughly dried.
I would call in the morning and see what appointments they have available.
Make it clear you are concerned and want to be seen asap.
Some vets keep a couple of appointments free for last minute emergencies, so hopefully they can see him tomorrow.
And you are clearly vey observent owner who has caught things quickly - sending healing vibes to your sweet Duncan.

Thank you so much, will we need a stool sample?

I would probably take one, or a least a photo of the odd shaped poos, but if he is anything like my lot he will probably produce more than one whilst at the vets too.

He seems okay, eating some hay, having a nap, scoffing cucumber. I had to give Godfrey some too, he was feeling left out! We'll take him as soon as we can tomorrow, for now he has a big pile of hay, plenty of water, a caring brother, everything he needs.

This will sound stupid, but I'm not 100% sure how to get a stool sample, properly?
