my poor piggie bradders has got like a big absess on the side of his belly it has just started leaking puss out of it but it is very big,
does anybody know what i should do wether to try and squeeze it or what?

I'm going to take him straight to the vets afterwork tomorrow

but what shall i do to keep him more comfortable till then?

:( :(

I know it sounds horrible but when mine had these i squeezed the pus out then flushed it with boiled and cooled water, if you have a syringe put that in the hole and flush it. He wont enjoy it but it will help clear it out before the vets. Hope all goes well, dont worry he will be sorted out soon xxxxx

do you think they will give him anti biotics or something,

and also do you know how much it might cost,

doesnt matter how much but my local vets doesnt take card

I don't know what kind of antibiotic they prefer for abcesses, but we've just been given a 10 day course of Septrin for one of our boys and it cost under £10, not including the consultation fee, just the meds.

well i dont mind paying as long as he gets better I'm not even sure that it is an absess i just hope its nothing more serious.

Flush it out with cooled boiled water and put about a teaspoonful of salt into the water.Do this 2 to 3 times a day.Squeeze around the abcess because you need to get rid of all the pus.High potency manuka honey is a natural antibiotic and you can pack this into the hole. Also collodial silver is good for spraying around the area.

hi all i took him to vets tonight and the vet squeezed all the puss out and cleaned it. he gave me some anti biotics for him and some pink wound cleaning stuff, but i must say he is a lot happier allready
i have to take him back on monday for a check up but hopefully all will be well,

thank you to all you guys who gave me some advice,
he is tucking into his veggies right now, ;)

Well done little brave Bradders :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
Sounds like the vets have things in control O0
It could take awhile for this to heal, you must keep cleaning the wound until no more puss comes out O0

Sounds as if he's already on his way to recovery :smitten: the pink stuff is probably mediscrub, you have to put it in water? thats what they gave for Ralfie and his cleared up fine O0 good luck x

thanks all i have to take him back on monday for a check up.

the pink stuff i have to put on cotton wool and clean around it.

any advice on how to get him to drink the anti biotic out of the syringe?

Sounds like you have a good vet, some of them try and drain an abcess with a needle!.

The pink stuff is probably Hibiscrub which is what I use,it is very good.

The antibiotic dose is very small so you should be able to give it at one go.Use a 1 ml syringe and place the nozzle in the side of the mouth and depress the syringe slowly.
