Well guess who found pinky blood in the corner of the cage on Sunday night... rolleyes... both Buddy and Bumble appeared fine so syringed them both water and waited on them to wee. Buddy hunched up a bit when he did so knew it was him straight away. Trip to the vets last night confirmed it, lots of blood in the urine. He's on septrin now and I have been supplementing with critical care as he hasn't been eating as much as normal. If he doesn't pick up by the weekend he needs xrays so keeping everything crossed for the poor boy. Although saying that he has already perked up after just one day of meds

:( poor little guy, hope the Septrin kicks in soon and clears it up. You've caught it early, lots of vibes to him. Hope he recovers soon x

I think he's lucky it happened now really as off on holiday in two weeks which is why I was so quick booking into the vets although he had gone downhill by monday night so I started syringe feeding as well. I've not had internet to get on here and check out information or update anyone so doing it all now

Well I am still a bit worried about Buddy, he doesn't seem to be himself still although he is eating more by himself now and also cleaning himself. I am still giving some CC alongside his antibiotics its just I don't know whether I would be better off taking him back to the vets for a check/x rays? I really don't know what to do for the best, he has picked up but I do know my pigs and he isn't himself still but I don't want to unnecessarily put him through further tests if I'm just being a worrywort :( any suggestions?

oh I am being a worrywort, I had just made up my mind to take him back to the vets asap for another check. Only I separated him at veg time, left him for a matter of a few mins and he had scoffed the lot, he then took CC from the syringe easily and when put back in the cage he was munching his hay. That was just so different to how he was this morning.

They are a worry aren't they.... Septrin used to make Putt a little quiet. Just keep an eye on him and after the course of AB's then get a scan if he is still not right or obviously if he goes downhill. Love to all your piggies and lots of vibes to Buddy x

Thanks, I've only ever been given Baytril ABs before and not Septrin and I've also not had any piggies with UTI's so its all a bit new for me. I think its worse that I had cystitis last year come on very quick and know how much pain he is in

It is horrible to hear them cry :( Maybe worth giving him some probiotic (if your not all ready) even though septrin is less harsh on the guts, it's still a AB so will knock the good gut flora also. How long is the course of AB's?

I don't actually know how long the course is tbh, I can't remember so just seeing how long the bottle lasts me. I do have probiotics in as he has been more prone to impaction since neutering and I put some in the water occasionally. I am using one in the water every couple of days for now just to be sure.

Back to the vets this morning just because I am off on holiday next weekend and I don't want to leave him without being sure he's ok. So he's had the all clear and he's piled the weight on again. It was followed by a trip to my mum and dads as they are babysitting the grandkids so Buddy got a lot of fuss from my niece and nephew :)
