I'm thinking about going back to the vets with Bumble as I'm very concerned about her eye. For those of you who don't know she did something to it last Friday (we went vets on the saturday and he said to bathe it in salty water).

Heres a pic from last saturday:

But it now seems to be bigger and theres a bit above her eye thats all red and scabby. It doesn't look swollen or infected but obviously I'm concerned about it getting worse. I can't go to my normal vets this weekend as the OH is away and its a long drive but I could try and get into another vets close to my parents and easily get the bus over there.

Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions in the meantime.

the vet didn't seem too concerned on saturday. I only got my guinea pigs in January and haven't had piggies before so I really don't know. I think its probably best that I ring the vets and see if I can get them into this new one either friday while I'm off or Saturday to be sure. I don't want my girl being poorly

It would probably be a good idea to continue to use the salt water on it until you can get her to a vet, just to keep it clean and prevent infection.

Hope she gets better :)

Ooh, poor Bumble. Sorry for asking but did the vet give you any indication of what it is or how it may have happened ? At least then you are aware - looks like a possible injury but I'm no expert.
Tbh, I would be inclined to PM one of the rescue owners for further advice with the pic, they have probably seen most ailments etc.
Good luck and healing vibes to Bumble x>>

Thanks I've been subjecting her to it everyday and twice a day if I notice she has scratched the scab off. She really doesn't like it but has only squealed once bless her

My poppy had something similar but it didn't get quite as red - but all under her eye scabbed and the hairs came out. It looks really sore and turned out to be fungal.
As well as normal meds they gave her, I rubbed some of the Manuka Honey cream from GorgeousGuineas and it started to heal nicely.

Hope it clears up soon but I would see about treating it for fungal asap as I don't think it will hurt if it's not. You could probably get some cream from PAH if the vets are closed?

Thanks will go into the pet store in wigston after my placement tomorrow or get oh to nip into pah on his way home from work. I get home about 4.30 tomorrow so will find out what time my delivery is on Friday and then get in at the local vets as she needs it checking asap poor little baby girl :(
