we have just come back from the vets - I've had Charlie roughly 3 years - yesterday I noticed he hadn't eaten hardly a thing, but last night he did eat some grass, but anyway this morning he looked all bloated at the back end and hadn't touched any food so took him to the vets - vets gave him 2 injections and hes on the batril until Friday - he said Charlies back teeth might be a problem and he's swollen up at the back around his tongue, so hes going back in on Friday for another check up of the teeth and hopefully the swelling should have gone down once injections and baytril kick in, so if the teeth look likes the problem and thats why he hasn't eaten, he will be staying in to get his teeth done. I've never experienced this before with my gps, as they normally constantly eat hay and dried food so I am really surprised if his teeth have overgrown- can this happen if even GPs constantly graze? Natasha

it can happen as they get older, he is in the best place, sounds like you have done everything right i hope he is okay xx

It's mostly a heritable thing. So it would be kinda weird if it really is his teeth becouse he didn't suffer of this kinda injury before.
It could always be some sort of tumor. That happends more often now becouse a lot of people "over breed" with them.
But don't be scared, it could just be some random injury like a hard piece in the hay stuck in his troath. In that case he can get better with some antybiotics after the hay or whatever is removed

Anyway, good luck with it!

well its wierd as within the past hour he has been a changed man, running around, rumbling at Winnie next door in the run and has been having a little munch on his hay and dried food not loads of food but something and he eat his slice of cucmber! - those injections must have perked him right up - maybe his teeth aren't over grown and he just has a injury which has swelled his tongue up - i am just guessing i suppose though!

Glad to hear that charlie is better, i have no advice but i hope that he continues to be his happy self. :)

Sending charlie healing vibes. x x x
