oh i cant beleive it poor Hattie now has huge ulcer in her eye i noticed that it looked cloudy took her to the vet he put some dye in and there it was , he then spotted a foreign body which was a small piece of hay and i know where from, i brought one of those hay tunnels that has grass stuck to it, bits of grass stick out all over it so i expect when she went inside it a piece came of in her eye...blimming annoyed now i should of thought about it more!
anyway she has drops that repair the cornea and drops to stop any infection and he also gave her a pain killer as he said it is a very painful thing! she has to go back tomorrow the pain killer lasts 24 hours so she can have another injection tomorrow...and just hope the cornea mends!..I'm trying to give these piggies a better life not doing too well so far.

Poor Hattie, glad you got her to the vet so quickly. When you go back it would be a good idea to ask for pain relief you can give at home.

Oh no. Best wishes to Hattie. Hope she gets better soon x

poor Hattie, some piggies like to cause us worries every now and then. Give her plenty of fuss and definitely ask about bringing some pain relief home that you can syringe her to keep her more comfortable

Get well soon Hattie. You are not to blame for this at all so please get that out of your mind. One of my girls had a hay poke last week. It just happens.

oh poor Hattie & you! healing vibes to Hattie, it doesn't matter how much we try & look after our little furballs- they all seem to get the upper hand when it comes to their heath! Eye injuries unfortunately seem quite common, mine love to bury their heads in the hay & then get bits in their eyes or hay poke injuries-i think the vets dread it when i phone up, they all know my voice now i go there so much:whistle:

Just think what a good piggy slave you are.... you noticed in the first place, you got her treated quickly, you're following up her treatment &pain relief by taking her back to the vets tomorrow, would be good if you could get some pain relief prescribed for home use too like the others have suggested.
But come on... i think Hattie has got it good.... very good... such a well trained slave

Get well soon :D
xx

hey thanks guys ...just so disappointed for her never mind onwards and upwards getting her better is my top priority now yes will definitely ask for some pain releif to bring home poor love...bloody hay tunnel..:hb:

Don't blame yourself as this can happen with hay anytime. I hope she continues to get better. Usually things like this heal up pretty quickly when treated.

the vet said today that it looked better than yesterday the remend drops must be good , she had another metacam injection and i have a bottle of it to use at home..that hay tunnel cost me £7.00 and the vet treatment cost me £81 on wednesday and £68.00 today if i never see a hay tunnel again it will be too soon :yikes:.............but i am sooooo pleased her eye looks better its still has a huge ulcer but i think it will continue to improve.
