My Guinea pig Jordan who is about 2 years old has been very poorly since last night, he is not eating or drinking and is staying in his little house, he isn't moving and makes noise when breathing like little wimpers. I'm hoping for the best but fear the worst. I have a vet appointment today at 6. I'm hoping he is just constipated since he hasn't pooped since yesterday. I thought he would be much too young to pass away but who knows what defects he could have been born with and how he was treated by previous owners. All I was told about him when I adopted him was he was used for breeding as well as being abused. Really hope all goes well at the vet I am very distraught and keep thinking I hope I have given him the happiest life a guinea pig could ever want.

Hey i would take him to the emergency vet as 6:00 is quite late and it sounds serious. Best of luck x

I have to say I agree and it would be wise to get to the vet sooner if possible.
Not eating/drinking/pooping is quite serious.
Without distressing him, are you able to offer some food by syringe? You can mash some of his pellets up with water.
I hope the vet can figure out what the problem is quickly for you.

After I wrote my post I called the vet for an earlier appointment, vet is just across the road from me so I took him in, sadly Jordan has gone to guinea pig heaven. He wasn't constipated and nothing wrong with him, no lumps, nothing, sadly I guess it was just his time :(

Thanks everyone, I'm grieving, I'm baffled since my guinea pigs in the past have never passed away at age 2, my oldest is 4 (Jordans cage mate). I'm upset, like someone else said its hard when its sudden, I hope I gave him the best life :(

I am so sorry. Xx
But please don’t feel guilty. Guinea pigs die at different ages and different times. Also, they hide their illnesses very well so it is hard to spot one. Jordan had an amazing life with you and you did everything you could to help him. Never forget that xxxxxx
