Alfie went to the vets recently, as i thought i'd been making mistakes when 'helping' him with his impaction, as he'd appeared to be favouring one leg - i took this as a sign of discomfort. well, it turns out he has a fractured left-hand back leg. poor little guy.

i really really hope it's an old break, as i feel awful enough as it is. however, it's been assumed that he'd seem in obvious pain if it was a new break.

he seems happy enough in himself, so that's good.

on a brighter note, the vet's also said that now that he's on a stable diet (the rescue was mainly feeding donations, obviously), his impaction might get a little better, which is pretty awesome in itself. he seems to be running around fine, and not squeaking in pain etc.

i think the only reason i caught on was because i'm being an overprotective piggle mommy

my poor poor little man :(

Good for you on picking up on his injuries right away! He's lucky to have you for a piggy mama!

Hope Alfie feels better soon

thanks, i hope so too. he seems to have settled in well. i can't wait to have them moved into their extended house x)

i really really hope my poor little guy feels okay soon. he posed for some pigtures earlier, so i should have those up soonish :)

Good on you for picking up on it!

Hoepfully, you can get his impaction somewhat under control! At least, Alfie is now in a good place and I'm sure that he'll appreciate it!

i feel quite sorry for Layla :( she's apologised a fair few times. i'm hoping that she'll read this, so that she knows i don't think it's her fault at all. it really isn't an obvious problem, and it isn't causing him pain.

again, as always, thanks Wiebke :) i'm glad i picked up on it. even if there's nothing huge i can do to make it all better, at least i can monitor it and make sure it doesn't get worse.

It is not always easy for rescue people to pick up on things that are not immediately obvious - like an old fracture.

exactly :)

little Alfie is an absolutely stunning little guy, with an absolutely amazing personality. i couldn't possibly have chosen a better rescue piggle x)
