I am pleased to report that Sweep has now moved into his new home and what a gorgeous piggy he is :smitten: A lovely gentle personality and a ball of fluff.

Photos will follow!

Aww I love a happy ending, here's to you and sweep living happily ever after :smitten: :smitten:

Here he is, sat on one of my best blouses,

Great to see you again and glad your pleased with him.
Thanks once again for offering him such a fantastic new home O0

Good to see you again as well Graham, crikes you have got your hands full.

I am absolutely delighted with him, he's such a lovely laid back boy. He's eating and drinking well-he loves Alfalfa Slim chews and he is now registered with a vet, I think they were a bit shocked when I said he was four because they know that in the past they have always been registered from the minute I have took ownership so I quickly explained, it was obvious they felt sorry for him.

My local pet shop, Emmersons have given me some free samples of grub for him so I will mix that in with his regular food.

My only hope now is that he really enjoys his retirement here with me.

Here's Sweeps latest update

He is doing incredibally well, yes he's rather hard work but so so rewarding. The first 24 hours he was very submisive and at times almost adopting a frightend hedgehog pose, head tucked right under him and I had to keep uncurling him.

But, now he is slowly coming out of his shell and starting to come over to me to sit on my knee, he happily submits to been groomed though cutting tats of his back end for the first time was nerving knowing what else is down their ::) :o! One slip of the scissors and ouch!

He's eating really well, but going to need a pot dish as he's a bit of a dish flinger! He loves cucumber, bananas, carrot tops, carrots and Alfalfa chews (he goes through them at a rate of knots)

He is a very affectionate and loving piggy and quite adventerous as well, at the time of writing this he is hanging over the side of the settee deciding whether to bale off or not! :-\.

I have been on the pampered piggies site and can't wait for pay day I have lots of treats in mind for him and some posh and go, pampered piggies shampoo for his rather long fur, and of course Tommy and Sparky will be getting lots of treats as well.

So all in all things going well here both for Sweep and my other two darling boys Tommy (the king of popcorning) and Sparky. :smitten:

Thats awful obviously too much effort for someone to clip them
I adopted a pig with the same problem. It broke my heart to see her toes deformed :( After maintaining them for a while they started to go back to normal, though.

On a side note, Cornelia's nails need to be trimmed often, yet Caesar's nails never need to be trimmed. I guess Caesar gives herself manicures on a regular basis! ;D

Sweep update,

Well Sweep headed off for the vet this morning, ha had been coughing on and off for a couple of days and the vet thinks he may have the start of infection so he's on Baytril for 5 days. Teeth aren't growing back brilliantly in line so he may need further work done in the future. She's also concerned about his weight and thinks he could do with a few more ounces on him but, she's pretty confident that that now that he's eating better and is on his own with no one nicking his grub he will put weight on naturally but have given me some science recovery which I will start him on when he comes back from staying with Goldilocks while I pop down to see my nan and also meet up with another member from here. Will keep you all posted.

Peggys claws were like that when I got her. :'( One had grown back into her foot and was so sore. Now they grow wonky!

Ohh heck Wanda
Hope sweep is soon feeling better.
I really do feel guilty now for letting you take him

What a sweet little piggy, looks like a lump of coal :) meant that in the nicest possible way :)

Please don't feel guilty Graham, you gave me the choice and I could of left him with you a bit longer but, I choose not to and I do not regret it. I knew he was an older pig and that he may need to go to the vets at some point and with it comes the cost of vetinary care which I was prepared for.

He's a very special piggy and I love him to bits :smitten: and I am willing (as I am with my other two) to nurse him through this and pay whatever vet bills come my way as his "mummy" it is my duty to do this for him and I feel no resentment and have no regrets about providing him with the medical and nursing care he needs.

As they say in the advert "because he's worth it"

So please, stop feeling guilty

Thanks Wanda.
Its just I normaly keep any poorly animals here for life so never gone through rehoming one

The vet thinks that his chest infection is a one off blip as a result of what has happened to him either way I have no regrets on taking him, offered the same choices "knowing what I know now" I would make the self same choice. She's confident that he will put on weight overtime and that it's likely that he will be able to keep his own teeth trimmed down through eating though they are slightly out of allignement. The only time he struggles is with something soft but he has worked out a way around that. The other day he was enjoying a banana and was taking chunks off then throwing his head back so he could get it further back in his mouth

I find it really satisfying and a great privalidge to help and care for a piggy through a "poorly patch" and just in this last week he has come on leaps and bounds and it's been wonderful to watch, I love the way that he climbs on my knee for a cuddle. The vet is confident that with lots of TLC he will do really well.

If the nails are left to grow that long, what implications can be expected in the future? For example, can the quick grow longer, can it deform the toes etc?

Poor little chap. Thank goodness Sweep found you both.

Hes's a real sweetie :smitten: if he was of the opposite sex i would be really tempted to pig nap him every time you sit on the settee and he is there he just wants to sit on your knee.

tommy and sparky are cute too :smitten: just the wrong sex for me

good luck today wanda with traveling with jack and jimmy O0

Thanks
