Poor Truffle I'm pleased to hear that you found a vet who doesn't use GA. I shall be thinking of you as I only know too well what a nail biting wait you have x
Truffle was squeeking when weeing & over the weekend his wee was gritty with a tiny bit of blood. This doesn't always indicate stones, it's just that he has been treated for a urine infection & it hasn't cleared up so an xray is the next step.
Loss of appetite, weight loss, pain on passing urine, blood in the urine, the urine can feel gritty it may also have a distinctive smell, abdominal tenderness.
Your pig may show all or none of these symptoms. Furthermore, they can occur in other conditions other than bladder stones. A differential diagnosis must be made to exclude other conditions.
Thanks everyone - just spoke to the vet who said there were no stones visible on the xray so they are doing further tests on his wee etc - have to wait another hour to find out xx
Truffle is home
The vet could not find any stones on his xray & kindly let me have a good look too. All his other tests are fine so she has prescribed metacam to see if he improves - have to ring back later in the week to let them know how he is getting on
