I decided to wrap him up in some bandaging as he has recently started itching his back quite badly.

His eye and his legs actually seem to be healing really well, the hair is growing back and everything, it is his back that is really bad and quite sore. I have been putting cannesten on him and that seems to be helping but his back looked quite red today so I put some cannesten on it and wrapped it up to help stop him getting at it. He is still getting used to having the bandage on but it will hopefully be for the best since he can't scratch the scab or get the cream off.

Just seeing him like that makes me feel quite sad. He is doing well but the bit on his back is quite stubborn indeed.

As I am writing this he seems to have calmed down now he is used to the bandage, he is just laying down in his pigloo :) will give him some yummy veg to make him feel nicer

aww poor fella, hope he gets better soon. I think you did the right thing, this will stop him irratating it all over again or causing more damage.
I've seen people use the jacket part of those harness sets designed for ferrets, could be worth looking at as may be easier to put on. Or you could use a fluffy sock, or a tubigrip. All will keep the area covered and protected. Big kisses to McMac! xoxo

Aww no he managed to wriggle out of it, suppose I will have to put it on a bit tighter :/

Yeah you can see it has gone red wear he has scratched it so thought something to stop him causing more damage would be the best thing to do

Hi,

We got 1 of these from Amazon for a rescue, they use it for piggies with open wounds, it may help McMac..

I hope McMac gets better soon. I think you are wise to try & cover it so he doesn't irritate it more. Looks like you have to find something he can't wriggle out of though! Is this fungal? What about Sprout, has he caught it too?

Aww poor mcmac :( ive heard someone on here putting an old sock on a piggie with a fungal infection, i cant find the thread though mallethead

Thanks guys, it is horrible seeing him like this :( His legs and eye are doing fine, his ears are a little crusty but don't seem too bad. It is just his back. I put some cream on him today and he was squealing and wriggling, it must be so sore for him. But it does look less crusty and scabby so I am hoping I am making progress.

Oddly enough Sprout hasn't caught it yet. I keep checking him expecting to find some crust or a little bold patch but nothing yet :S

Also does anyone know the amount of time it takes to get rid of a stubborn fungal infection? Roughly. Would it be like 2 or 3 weeks or more?

Sending him lots of healing vibes x x
