This is Buff he came into the rescue almost 2wks ago,,when he came in the old owner told me he weed blood at times:(

Once he came to me he did wee a lot of blood and was put on seprim, metacam and picked up and the blood stopped..

But on weighing him he had lost 35g in 2 days and he seems sad and IS wheecking when weeing..

He is going to vets 2moz has its either poss water infection ( a stubbon one):... or stones he is still weeing but looks so sad in himself he isnt a young boy he is over 4yrs old if it is a stone i just dont know what to do?

would it be fair putting he through a op?/?/?/
I will also take a water sample with me but i will request an xray to be done...

here he is...

If you are confident in your vets gp knowledge then go on their advice. He is such a sweetheart, I love his colour.

Bless him, definitely give him a chance if he's otherwise ok (eating, moving about etc.), 4 isn't too old - I've known piggies as old as 9 to come through surgeries (although obviously, circumstances were exceptional and the vet was extremely skilled with guineas).

Fingers crossed it isn't a stone. xx

god no i will defo give him a chance:)

he is off his food a little and doesnt move around a lot i have been syringe feeding him but he does eat a little on his own..

i just dont know if he would with stand surgery:0

he didnt have his wee tested last time when he first come in but he did pick up after been on the meds fat first but now he has just gone down hill fast..but he is still weeing but it does hurt himxxx

Poor little mite. Hope the Vet helps you understand what's going on with him and how best to treat it. Really hope you can get him better soon x

he's beautiful!

Angie (Farquart) has a piggie with an embedded stone and he can't be operated on. She may be able to offer some advice.

yes its poss but I'm thinking if it is a stone surgery maybe needed as ive talked to AP before about stones in guinea pigs and he has said if they get them they cant always be removed depending on the area they are in..

He is in pain though and is very quiet poor little thing..

I will call AP tonight though just incase there is something I'm missingmallethead x

thank you.x

i dont think buff could be left though as it/something is really giving him some pain and problems just hope it is a bad water infection and not a stone he keeps fluffing up too and hates to move too much he is also straining a lot too which i noticed last night:x:(

Poor guy. :(

Good luck for the vets and get well soon Buff!

Best of luck for your poor mite - any weight loss of 30g is easily within the daily fluctuation; you are either looking for a sudden huge weight loss or a slow downhill trend.

An untreated UTI can be VERY painful, as can a stone. A lot depends on where the stone is located. In any case, I would recommend an x-ray as well - you have to take it from there.

Sending poor Buff my vibes!

Well he definitely has some problems and needs to see the Vet, poor thing, but I wonder if probiotics might help with his painful pooing? I've heard that cystitis can cause discomfort when pooing as well as obviously weeing, so it could perhaps just be that? Do you think he may perhaps be constipated even?

Really hope it's something straightforward which can be sorted quickly and easily x

he is on probiotics as he is on antibiotics,i dont think he is constipated think its all due to his water works x:)

Well ive just got back from the vets and left buff there for an xray, his wee had loads of blood in it and they will send it off for testing too.

if the xray doesnt show anything up then a contrast will be done i have also signed consent for surgey to remove any stones if any are found..

heres hoping he is fine and that every thing turns out well x

Fingers crossed Claire. It's worrying isn't it? I had to leave Dolly like that a few weeks ago and sign the form and everything. Hope he's okay - and whatever they find will be able to be sorted easily.

Fingers crossed for poor Buff - hopefully, it's just a neglected UTI; piggies can sometimes pee a lot of blood!

thank you he is a beautiful guinea pig very calm natured and just enjoys chilling out on me:))

he was also leaking a lot this morning..

the vet was so good i brought the wee sample in and she just tested it straight away but did also say he was very sore behind his abdomen..

i think its absolutely disgusting how people can just off load a guinea pig to a rescue knowing it has these problems and just do nothing about it,i should be billing her the £267grrrrgrrrr

The vets have just rang they have found 2 massive stones in his bladder and have now removed them, but he may have to stay in over night...
