Earlier tonight, poor Gladys got stuck in a tube ... I wasn't home and hubby was getting her out for lap time.. She ran and got stuck inside a tube that had been stuffed with hay and bits of food earlier :( ... He had to cut the tube off to get her free... Feel like such a bad owner now.. Hopefully she hasn't injured herself, no signs of anything apart from total stress :(

Poor Gladys, they do get themselves into some scrapes don't they? Don't feel bad about it you are obviously a very caring owner, these things happen to all of us from time to time. Sure Gladys will forget about it very soon.

What sort of tube was it? :(
It was a corrugated one from Pets at Home :( It has been stuffed with hay both ends but i emptied out ready to put fresh in and i forgot :( Totally felt guilty today when i looked in the shop and it said hamster on it :( luckily she seems to not have come to any harm and has been out again tonight with us... My other half kept saying ' Bad Mummy ' ...

I gave her lots of cuddles tonight to make up for it... She was all snuggled into my neck almost so i am hoping she forgives me xx

Oh no! I think I know the ones you mean, and I have several from when I kept Syrian hamsters. I dug one out and used it last year during introducing a baby into the herd, with the thought that she could have somewhere to hide where the others wouldn't follow, but one of them did and got completely stuck. Like you I had to cut the tube up to get her out.

Sounds like for her it's all done and gone now.

Hugs xx

Aww :( I buy the big ones from Asda, they are only a £1 & mine love them, they are big enough for my XXL piggy lol :)
I have got them a big one already.. they can both get into it lol ! Will be more careful in the future!

awful to think of them stuck in there ! The big one i have is big enough for 2 of them ! x

Oh dear :( They do have wonderful ways of scaring us! Glad she's ok.

Poor Gladys! One of my hedgehogs got her head stuck in a toilet paper roll once... we gave it to him as a toy, not thinking that once the spikes went in, he wouldn't be able to back out! He was okay though... just a little spooked of toilet paper rolls after that!

His head, I mean... we had three hedgies total, two girls and one boy, but it was the male who fought the toilet paper roll and lost!

This happened to one of my piggies once; we'd never had them before and they were quite small when we first got them. My parents knew hamsters had toilet roll tubes to play with, so they put one in for the piggies... Unfortunately, one got stuck! It stressed her out quite a bit (and we had to cut her out), but she was fine. We never gave them tubes again!

Oh dear! I'm glad she is alright. Don't blame yourself, you can't help these situations.

I had a similar situation, my dad dropped a load of books by the cage, this startled the piggies and they both ran into the same tube from opposite ends.

They ended up colliding head first but were so confused they just kept on desperately trying to push past each other and ended up both half wedged on top of each other in the tube having massive panic attacks! Silly billies!
