Hi,

I hope someone can help me. I have three piggies and the oldest and mother to one of the pigs has/appears to have lost weight. She feels very boney and less active than normal. She also seems to have diarrhea . We took her to the vet and he prescibed some powder to put in their water. However, last night I noticed her bits were all swollen?

Can anyone please help me or guide me what to do? Really worried.

I'd get her back to the vets and explain it to them. It might help to syringe her some of her dried foods if you can? mash some up in some water and syringe her as much as you can, bit of diarralyte for humans will help rehydrate her if you can get that? Also, if you can get hold of some metatone tonic from tesco's or asda, you can syringe her 0.5mls of that and it will help boost her apetite until you can get her to a vet. Hope she's feeling better soon x

If the genital area is swollen a possible cause is a renal stone stone lodged in the urethra.Has she been passing water?.I think you need to get her back to the vet asap.

Try and find a better vet,one that tells you to put meds in water is useless.Never put anything in the drinking water because it can alter the taste and maybe put them off drinking.More importantly you have no idea how much or when the gp has had any of the med.Give by syringe,then you know exactly the dose and at what time.
