Has anybody else noticed that there seems to be a lot of poor quality hay at the minute?

With all the wet weather we have had, I am not at all surprised but I have noticed it hard to find a decent bag of hay recently and this includes more than just my usual brand.

There isn't much green hay in the bags and I opened a bag today only to find it smelt musty. I always smell hay before giving it to my piggies.

I shall be taking the hay back for a refund / replacement. It must have been a bad batch as the other two bags I brought at the same time are not musty.

Just wondering if anyone else is finding the same thing?

I buy mine from Dust free hay company, theirs has been good so far as the guy prides himself on giving only decent hay, he brought some French hay last year as our own crops over here were a bit poor.

I had this problem with some hay also. I opened it and thought it smelt off but mum said it was just me. So I put it in their cages and all 3 completely ignored it. I then leant over the bag and stuff blew into my face and I couldn't stop sneezing. I took the hay out, put the bag aside and its just sitting there. It cost £9 so not sure what to do with it.

My recent bag from Hay4Pets is thankfully brilliant quality as per usual...
Hopefully the recent floods hasn't effected the fields... fingers cross

Edit: Am interested in the dust free stuff though might look into it
