I seem to be having so many pigs pass away lately..makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong :(

I'd only had Truffle about a month, she was apparently 2 years old and came with Jaffa, whose owner didn't want them anymore as they were moving house. She was a little small but other than that, a picture of health with her shiny fur and bright eyes, yet I still found her gone with poor Jaffa sitting next to her at the weekend :(

RIP lovely girl xxxxxxx 8...

BIG HUG

I am so sorry - Truffle was a sweet little girl, and I am sure that she was a happy as she could be with you!

One death is hard to take, but when they pile up and come from such unexpected angles, it is hard to take!

RIP Truffle

I'm so sorry to hear about Truffle. What a gorgeous piggie she was. She will be reunited with your other piggies at Rainbow Bridge and will be watching over you. HUgs to you hun.

Sorry for your news. What a tough time you're having. I hope little Jaffa's coping ok. Hugs to you both. x

Sorry you lost Truffle. One of the problems of rescuing is that you don't know a piggie's background, how they were treated or fed before you got them or any health problems. Being small might be a sign of not being looked after when young or possibly a heart condition. It's not going to be anything you did wrong.

Honest I went through a phase where I seemed to adopt one degu after another only to have them put to sleep after a couple of months - it was because I was always willing to take the elderly scruffy ones with health problems that no-one else wanted. At least you know that they had a good home and were well cared for, for what time they had left.

Tracy I'm so sorry - you are having a terrible time lately xx
Sleep well beautiful little Truffle xx

I am really gutted because I've lost so many - honestly, at times I've wondered if I should carry on with the guineas because it seems it's not to be, but I ADORE the ones I have, and whenever another rescue needs me I'll always take them in. I just wish I could get them healthy, rather than sending them the other way :(:(

Thanks :(
Deaths are all seperate and come from seperate groups. I've changed shavings hay and food and cleaned the cages and water bottles. Not sure what else to try now!

Tracy i'm so very sorry :(

I don't think it's anything you are/aren't doing; it's sadly their time & their timing's way off :(

Sleep in peace Truffle x

sorry to hear about Truffle Tracey. It's not anything you're doing hon, unfortunately rescue pigs come from all sorts of backgrounds and they may look healthy on the outside but you can never tell really how long they're going to live. One of mine lived to 7, yet another only had 6 months with me. Just enjoy them while they're with you x

sorry to hear that you've suffered another loss :( sadly these things happen and I'm sure all of the piggies that you've lost were gratefull that they spent whatever time they had with you, feeling loved and secure and having lovely food everyday. If you decided to give up on piggies then all the ones out there waiting to find you would lose out on all the love and kindness you have to offer for whatever amount of time they have left.
R I P Truffle xx

I'm so sorry Truffle has passed too. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I think you're drawn - by some form of intuition - to the pigs that really, really need the TLC, love and attention you give them, because their time is destined to be fairly short and they desperately need to know what it is like to be in a good home. The pigs who are really badly in need find their way to you because, although it is hard for you to lose them, they know you are the person they want to be with for the rest of their days, you can give them the comfort they need. I know it might sound a bit odd to some people but I do feel that certain pigs come to you for a reason.

Big hugs to you Tracy.

Rest well, sweet Truffle. xx

I think that is an absolutely lovely post Laura, and to me makes perfect sense.

I've following your threads Tracy and although I haven't posted, wanted to send you big hugs. I went through a period of losing quite a few of my pets and found it desperately difficult - I was regularly at the vets in tears. Last year we brought 5 chooks home from a horrific place and one of those died too young. She had never been right, the **** had butchered her wing, but I always think that at least she got to feel the sun on her back, good food in her belly, and grass in her beak, with constant love and daily poo picking!

It doesn't get any easier does it, but at least they have a wonderful life with you, no matter what their length of time is on this earth x

Huge I hugs it is as Laura said usually the ones who really need it who come into rescue sadly some are not with us long but the last two posts express my sentiments fully. Huge hugs to you and Jaffa x

When you are a true animal lover, you will experience those bad times so much harder because you really let the little souls into your heart. Remember that those guineas of yours that have recently left this world have done so fully trusting and appreciating you for everything you did for them, their lives were as good as can be. They are probably having a chat to each other about you now too; that lovely kind lady that looked after us, she was really great and we also, are very sad that we had to leave her!

Aww your posts brought tears to my eyes, you are all so lovely and understanding! I hope I did make her last days happy, she was such a lovely pig and I was so sad to find her in her forever sleep :( The good news is that Jaffa has been paired with two other piggies and is now doing really well, after a few days of not eating.

Oh no love i'm so so sorry to hear about Truffle in her forever sleep 8...8...8...
RIP Truffle run free at the bridge, now happily popcorning with friends and family, enjoy those lush dandelions, you'll be so sadly missed by mummy who tried so hard for you and also Jaffa, you'll NEVER be forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) and special loves from us all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Another little star now twinkling in the sky........... :(
