Had to take my little Coco to the vets today and went to one recommended by the local rescue. The vetinary was really good and said that Coco had a cold and that it had gone onto her chest so could be pneumonia she gave her a steriod injection (wheak!) and then some baytril twice a day orally. POorly girl fingers crossed it will work got to take her back in a week. Meanwhile OH felt bad and suggested I went to the rescue and got the little sow I saw the other day, didn't have the heart to tell him that I bought one home from the rescue yesterday! Coco is the piggy in my avatar x

Poor Coco, I really hope she starts feeling better soon. Shes a pretty girl. Have you got any pro biotic for her. Sometimes baytril can cause gut issues, it can kill some of the 'good bacteria' which is important in the piggies gut and cause diarrhea. A probiotic can really help with this.

x.

Sorry to hear about Coco :(
Whee hope the meds will start to work quickly for her, all paws crossed XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
awwwwwww that is so sweet of your OH, you'll have to update us with some pigtures of your newbies x) (hint hint :)) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

will do the piccies soon hope to get all the piggies together not sure how may have to ask my family to assist in keeping them in one place just for a few seconds. lol. Coco has been having baytril twice a day since yesterday and seemed much the same which I am using as a positive as she doesn't seem worse but it is early days with the meds. I do worry though as she is currently indoors and I can hear her rattling chest across the room when all is quiet. Poor piggy. x

ABI NURSE: What is the probiotic called or in what form? I am a newish owner so am so grateful for each owners tips and knowledge. Thankyou

yOur vet should have pro biotic in stock. Its meant to be given 2 hours after the anti biotic. If you can, I would suggest you get some. Normally, vets give this as standard with baytril.. hopefully the piggie will be okay, but pro biotic can really help balance any gut issues. Good luck and please keep up updated on Cocos progress....
