Poorly eye. advice needed please

Hi everyone.

I'm new to this forum and wanted the advice of you wonderful people.

i have noticed today that my piggy has a poorly eye. i have taken a pic for you. i will be taking her to the vets tomorrow, but i was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what it could be?

Hi & welcome to the forum

That looks like either a nasty injury from hay/straw or a fight injury. If there is a piece of hay or hay seed in there it needs urgent vet attention. Can you get to the vets today rather than tomorrow?
 
Welcome to the forum. Definately a vets visit needed to check it out. The sooner the better, in case of infection.
 
Hello and a big warm welcome to the forum.

It looks like your little one has an eye infection, possibly from a piece of hay poking her in the eye. Is she bedded on hay or straw? If she is bedded on straw I'd suggest replacing it with hay - hay is much softer and more nutritional than straw.

The vet should give some eye drops and possible a week’s course of antibiotics if there is a infection in the eye.

Hope shes feeling better soon keep us updated.

hey there,

thank you everyone for replying so quickly.

we visited the vets at 4pm and she confirms that it is an eye injury (most likely caused by the hay) so she has given me antibiotic drops to put on twice a day and she wants me to go back on friday evening so she can see how she is doing.

she behaved so well at the vets bless her.

will let you all know how she is doing in a few days x
 
My Maisie pig had an eye injury and it looked just like that. She had drops and it healed up completely and really quickly.
