well i've just got back and they're going to keep him in over night under observation with regular feeds and everything and make sure that everything is working, even with me feeding him and feeding him water hes still managed to loose 2lbs,they think that it is his teeth and they are going to do it tomorrow but the said it might be something more serious than that givern that hes 4 and a half. I'm just so worried about him right now. Ill keep you up-dated on what happens over-night, thank you so much for all of your help x

No problem honey, your more than welcome, he is in the best hands. Big hugs x

they managed to file his teeth down, but he had to be kept in last night to make sure he was eating, which he hasnt yet, so hopefully he will do today, i just want him to come home xx

they want to keep him in tonight to make sure that he eats as hes been drinking on his own, so hopefully he will be home tomorrow :) thank you so much for all of your help :) its looking a lot better :) thank you so much for all of your help, il let you know what happenes tomorrow :) xx

There was nothing that the vet could do, she said that he would die with in a matter of hours so hes had to be put down. I'd just like to thank you for your help, its been really good xx

So sorry they couldn't save him love. :( It's really hard to pull them back from the brink sometimes. I hope your other piggie is coping ok.

My other pig is a little down but i think he'll be okay in a few days, well hopefully, he just stays in the bed and only comes out to eat so hopefully in a few days he'll get used to being on his own xx

Oh honey, i have only just seen this, i am so so sorry. BIG hugs. You did all you could. x

I am sorry I have only just read this thread, and half way through I thought he was going to be OK. You did your very best for him sorry he didn't make it. Hugs to you and his little friend xx

thank you, i thought he was going to come home today but then the vet said he wouldn't make it through the day so it was the kindest thing :/ xx

I am sorry to hear this very sad news, I had been following the story and never imagined it would have this sad ending - you did everything you could to help him so try to take comfort in that, such sad news

Your Welcome hun, i hope you'll still stick around, we could help you find a friend for you other little fella when your ready. xx

yeah i will do, were just gonna see how he goes on his own for a bit because if we got another one and they fought or something then i wouldnt have the heart to give the other one back so id have to get another cage and everything :s but if he doesnt pick up soon then we will have to start thinking about getting another one to see if that cheers him up xx

You could take him "boar dating" hun, where you take him to a rescue and put him with other boars and let him choose his own friend, the rescue will make sure they are well bonded and happy together and this will give you piece of mind.

xx

i havent herd of that before thats a good idea actually :) i might try it soon, hes eating at the moment i just think hes a bit lonely at the moment so that might be a good idea xx

misdiagnosis

My poor baby had not been eating very well, the vet only checked front teeth and they were fine so gave antibiotics. Baby was wanting food and would wolf down mashed banana so worked out it must have been a problem with back teeth so made an app with vet yet again and asked would they take her in and examine back teeth. Bingo that was the problem all along, I'm very concerned that a qualified vet couldnt diagnose the problem in first place! Not well, not eating and weight loss.

misdiagnosis

My poor baby was not eating losing weight and not her self. Took her to vets and told them i thought it may have been her teeth. Only checked front ones and gave a/b sent us home and said if no better in 10 days bring her back. I was still sure it was a tooth problem so rang and asked next day would they give her teeth a proper check? Bingo that was the problem all along, how could a qualified vet overlook this when all the symptoms pointed at this! £22 for first check then £120 for sorting the real problem, baby was starving to death because of her teeth.

Thank goodness you got this sorted, poor baby - hope she's ok x>>
A vet told me last week that my girl had spurs on her back teeth which scared me, the exotic vet we saw last night for a second opinion on another matter said her teeth were perfect :{

Sorry to hear of your problems, healing vibes to Baby.

Maybe if you start your own thread in health and illness, we can offer advice and support there, also if you give your location somone should be able to recommend a very good vet to you.
xx
