Hi all,

I am looking to this site for a little bit of help and support. I have three lovely little Guinea Pigs called Bon-Bon, Marshmellow and Biscuit.
They are sisters and are coming up to four years old - I rescued them just over two years ago.

Biscuit is not a well girl. She has been to the vets who is really pleased with her progress and the fact that she is eating, drinking, playing and moving around. Biscuit has had an abscess behing her right eye, this has burst and her eye has been pussing since.

I took her straight to the vets when this happened and she was given an injection of antibiotics, some antibiotic drops and some eye drops to help keep the eye clean.

She is back at the vets tomorrow - it is dependent on tomorrows visit as to whether she will need an operation. I am not sure as to whether it looks any better (I think this is because I see and hold her daily)

I feel awful for her, she is so upbeat and happy and was so brave at the vets.

I am just so worried about her as I *** heard that guinea pigs do not respond well to operations.

Has anyone else been through anything like this with their Guinea pigs?

I do not mind paying whatever it takes to help my little lady!

Thank you for reading this and I appreciate anyone who can get back to me on this.

I am sorry to hear Biscuit is unwell. A piggy I had underwent an operation to have her eye removed and she was totally fine later on that day. I wish her good luck at the vets.

Hi my little girl had to have her eye removed too. She had a abscess behind her eye that burst and he eye was damaged so had to have it removed .She is still fit and healthy 2 years later on x They are very hardy guinea pigs as when it happened and I was taken her to vets straight away she was eating hay ! I was more in shock then Fifi she was not fazed . Hope your guinea pig gets better soon x

Thank you for your replies, I feel a little more confident that if she does need to have her eye removed she will pull through. When she had her injections the vet and I were very surprised as she didnt even let out a squeak so I think she is a tough little lady. Thanks again for your help, support and best wishes. I am hopeful that she will be just fine.

Biscuit had an abscess too and my vet said this has lead to her eye 'popping' she wanted to monitor her and see hoe damaged it is so she got sent home. It hasnt improved so am glad she is back in tomorrow as want her sorted. Thanks again.
