Hi. I'm looking for some advice. I have had my piggie Gizmo for 6 years now and he has suddenly started having a wet underneath (wee). I have been bathing him to keep him clean and keeping a close eye on him. There is no blood in his wee and he is drinking the normal amount. He doesn't seem to be eating as much the last 2 days and isn't very interested in his veg. He has always been a good eater. He has started facing the corner of the cage a lot and is not as active. He had a cyst removed 6 months ago and has been fine since. I have just checked him and his poo is soft and light in colour and looking mushy. Any ideas what it could be? I am going to take him to the vets tomorrow but wondered if any of yours has had anything like this?

He needs to see a vet first thing tomorrow, ideally today. It sounds as if he is in pain.
Move him inside if he is an outdoor piggy. Weigh him daily and start syringe feeding him food and fluids.

He may have a urine infection and the sooner he starts treatment the better.

Hi!

Please step in with syringe feeding top up; you can use mushed up pellets in an emergency as long as you cut off the syringe tip as shown in the syringe feeding guide to allow fibre to come through. Keep in mind that over 80% of the daily food intake is hay.
Switch from weighing once weekly to weighing him daily at the same time on your kitchen scales in order to monitor his food intake. it is the only way to keep track of how little he is really eating.

Keep him warm but not hot. Make sure that you clean the area he is lying in 2-3 times a day and change the cosies or loose bedding in order to keep him dry and comfy.

See an emergency out-of-hours vet if he deteriorates before your regular appointment tomorrow

Vet trip is in order.
I hope it’s nothing serious.

Welcome to the forum and please keep us posted

Thankyou. He perked up a bit at night time but still not himself. He has gone to piggie heaven 💔 they have found a large lump in his bladder and said either stone( but not got all symptoms of one) or a tumour ( he did have a cyst removed 6 months ago on back). Vet Said if he was human he would be critical and that he was very poorly. Kindest thing for him was to let him go .😢 x

So sorry for your loss.
Letting go is the last gift of love we give but it does give us a lot of heartache.
Look after yourself and take time to grieve

Thankyou everyone. He was such a character. I've never had one like him. He was so special. Couldn't see him in pain though. He's with my other one Basra who who went suddenly about 8 months ago. They was best buds.
