My piggy Sparky collapsed today :... he looked so poorly I didn't think he would survive long enough to make it to the vets 8... Anyway after a check over by the vet Jason he thinks its spinal arthritis which has resulted in imflamation pressing on his nerves hence the loss of use of his back legs and him having bowel problems he was also dehydrated as a result of not being able to get to his water bottle.

Several injections later and fluids we left the vets I have now transferred him to the travel box so he doesn't have to travel far for food and water and also I am giving him syringes of water. He's looking better :) but still far from well, he's ate a massive tea but the trouble is his cage mate is a boisterous 18 month old piggy I put him in the box with him but him rampaging about doesn't seem to be helping him.

So any advice over what to do would help us both so much, the min thing being do I keep them together or do I seperate them if I need to seperate them will there be any problems in re uniting them, they are always arguing and grumbling but never fight and they really are close.

Could you partition off part of the cage for Sparky?

It's going to be important to separate them A) so you can see what Sparky is eating and producing from the other end(!) and B) so that he's not got to move far for food/water and C) so that his mate doesn't jump all over him etc.!

If you can't partition him in anyway, could you put him in his travel carrier inside the main cage?
