My poor Bump has been to the vets AGAIN! :0

Wasnt eating last night and this morning so before weighing him to find 100g lost in one day a flea jumped from his head, squashed the little git and it had been feeding as wall full of blood. Couldnt find any trace of flea evidence on him?! CONFUSED. Took him to the vets, to be given Advantage as a precaution as the vet couldnt find any evidence of fleas, Baytril injection, Metacam for the gut and I have been on with the recovery and Fibreplex.

Now, thing is there indoors in a BIG CC Cage? As I'm sure Iv explained before in the past. I have 2 girls on the other side which have been treated last week there absolutely fine. They get cleaned every day, fresh of everything. I have used flea spray being StayKill all around my flat now after the vets as a precaution, (the pigs were out of the room for 1 hour whilst settling in the crevices) ... Any clues? He is going back in 2 days for a check up. I dont understand where this 'odd' flea appeared from?! Vet is clueless. I have had no one round who has other pets to bring them into my home.

He goes downhill a lot since adopting him when he was a wee baby. Had a mini stroke couple of weeks ago, had the lethargicness before, he is deaf ... In all fairness he is the runt of the litter that was brought to us and I felt for him because of this. I will spend whatever on my piggies, they get the best.

Just love him to bits as I do all of my piggies.

I am very sorry. Losing 100g in a day means that he has not been eating or drinking in that time at all, so he urgnetly needs hydrating, too. Could he have had an allergic reaction to an insect bite? I hope that you can pull him through!

Thanks, hes put 60g back on which is good from giving him fibreplex and recovery throughout the day just isnt willing to eat on his own yet!

Oh dear, poor Bump. Are you syringe feeding him? I hope he recovers. :)

Please make sure that you syringe him water too; you will know if he is still thirsty when he happily takes it and is asking for more.

You are doing well; keep going, even if it means getting up in the middle of the night for another meal. You will know that he is starting to get better when he has the energy to fight you. His poos will look funny at first. if they are coat with goo, it means that he is dehydrated.

Lots of healing vibes to him, if he is no better tomorrow and still not wanting to eat, I would suggest asking the vet for a gut stimulant like metachlopromide to get his system pushing everything through. Well done on the syringing. You are doing well, keeping Bump in my thoughts x

Thanks peeps, he is getting better throughout the day, I do give water anyway after every recovery feed! :) I mentioned in the first post I have metacam ;) Was up 3 times last night doing it and his poops getting better. Probably 6th time since adopting him Iv done all this now, poor lad. Problem pig fershure! But I love him! Worth every penny! Same again tonight for precaution as he still prefers liquid/soft foods than solids.
