Hi! This is my first post here, it's a shame it's not a happier one! My 5 year old guinea Zoe was very sick the other day, she was rolling around on her stomach, gagging and then sneezed up a disgusting amount of yellowy mucus, like more than I've done with a bad cold. Obviously we took her straight to the vets and she was given som antibiotics, she seems to be doing ok now eating and drinking, pooing fine. But I really want to take her back to the vets once the corona restrictions are lifted to get some more checks on her done, my biggest worry is that she's really ill and in pain but is hiding it. So my question is really what checks can I ask for when I take her to the vets? Xrays? Blood tests? Any advice would be a huge help!

If this was caused by a respiratory Infection then hopefully the antibiotics will take care of it and she will feel better. Did the vet listen to her chest and confirm a URI?
Weigh her daily while she is on her meds so you can be sure she is eating enough and not losing weight.

If you are looking for a general health check, then it’ll be looking in her mouth at her teeth, checking her eyes, ears and nose and listening to her chest.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah they said they'd listened and that maybe it was something with her lungs (I wasnt allowed inside for social distancing so got this from over the phone) so gave her the meds but they were worried about her stomach as she was rolling round on it so didn't give anti inflammatories as they said if she does have a stomach upset then that would make it worse. I just know that alot of vets try their best with guineas but give antibiotics as a fix all measure. I'll be sure to keep weighing her. Thanks for the help!
