Sorry, this is the best way I can describe this.

I have just trimmed both my piggies nails (very proud of myself - 1st time).

All went well with Max but I had to call a truce with Monty as he was getting disgruntled.

Anyway, that's not the reason for this post.

The reason for this post is that when it was Monty's turn , the towel on my lap got soiled with faeces. I had a look at Monty's bum and there is a collection of soft stool in his anus.

I cleaned their cage out earlier today and there are plenty of normal droppings in his area so he has obviously been passing normal stool this morning.

How concerned should I be? Did I just catch him on at a bad time? What should I do?

I would keep him off fresh veg for a day to make sure that his guts settle down again and go lightly on things like cucumber that can cause diarrhea.Weigh daily for the next few days until you are sure that things have settled down well again; then go back to the normal weekly weigh-in.

Hopefully, it is just a little tummy upset - if the problem continues or comes up again in the near future, then it would mean a trip to Uncle Vet...

You need to see a vet as an emergency if you come up against dark, fluid, very smelly diarrhea.

Thank you for the reply.
I will keep an eye on him.
Poor Monty has been through a lot recently - he is the piggie who had complications after he was neutered. He finished a course of Baytril about 10 days ago. I weighed him yesterday and he had gained a little bit of weight which I was relieved about as he lost a lot after his op .
I note you advise keeping him off cucumber - that's interesting as I have been giving him that very regularly as he wasn't drinking much when he was ill. He drinks OK now so I will omit cucumber tonight and not give so generously in future.

Too much cucumber can cause the runs. :(

I would assume that that was the cause, so just go back to normal levels and you shouldn't have any more problems.

I hope Monty is okay and fingers crossed he just has a little upset tummy from nomming all the cucumber! :tu: x
