Hi, thanks for your post. I used to really struggle to do his nails especially since I lived on my own with him and no one to help, and they seemed to grow so quickly and get thicker everytime, but i've just invested in a special pair of rabbit nail clippers and the jobs a doddle now but thanks for telling me :) x

I can tell you from experience our first piggies, boars, i was petrified in doing nails........ i got the vets to do them..........now i do my girls even tho they are not impressed......
but yes having someone to help is so much easier :)
if you can do them regularly it is easier :) don't let him tell you what to do........ rolleyes

Thanks Glynis, how often do you recommend doing them? I'm always frightened of cutting on the nerve so I always probably leave the nails too long so as not to catch it.

Well it's hard to know each piggie is different........ when they're younger you can easily do it every few weeks or so........ this will also help you too for confidence :)
You could also go to your local vets and ask them to advise you and show you some technicques.......... we do have a thread on here.....

(sorry trying to find it now... will get back to you with it x)

Great pics, I too hate nail cutting probably more than our pigs!

What fabulous pigtures, i do love boars drool they look like they get on brilliantly too. drool

I hate nail clipping too, it doesnt help that my hand shakes whenever i try to do it so now i just go to my mums so she can do it for me whilst i hold one of them :)) haha much easier!

Great snap! Jumps are so difficult to catch on camera!

it's my pet hate trimming the piggy nails, and they hate is as much as i do! i LOVE the popcorning pic! it's lovely to see such happy pigs x

I love the popcorning photo! :))

I hate cutting the piglet's nails, too. Mine have got black nails and the vein is almost impossible to see-even with a light on the other side. The other day I just decided to bite the bullet and give them a good snip, as I'm always too scared to cut too much off. This time I very slightly caught Jeff's vein (it just looked a bit red, no blood actually oozed), and I realised that the vein does come out quite far...as even that one still looked long rolleyes

Thanks all for your lovely comments! I'm glad i'm not the only one who finds it difficult cutting the pigs' nails. I hate it, but it's just one of the very few unpleasant things about having these beautiful little whiskered boys!

The get on great Audioheart. So much so that Oscar moved in with Elliot this afternoon and they haven't stopped popcorning since. They are such a couple of terrorbags I haven't stopped laughing at them all afternoon. It's been such an exciting day. I think they've having a housewarming party tonight to celebrate Oscar moving in, but it said on the invitation 'No Humans Invited'. Hope something good is on the telly then ;)

i love the picture of all the piggies bums! they're all adorable (:
