Looking for some advice, Smudge had an abscess on the right side of his face and has been on anti-biotics for the last week, his abscess just popped all over the place :( hes going to the vets in the morning to get it checked out, anything i need to do tonight to keep him clean? hes had a bath, just water, to get to worst of the gunk off and seems ok

Hope smudge goes on ok at the vets. Hopefully it will heal up nicely now. :)
 
Its good that i has popped, hopefully the vet can get all of the pus put, flush it out, and if you keep it clean, he should be feeling back to his normal self very soon.

Well smudge has been to see the vet, she squeezed out any remaining puss and told me to keep it clean, more anti-biotics for him as well

he has a nice big hole at the back of his ear which turns my stomach when i see it but he's doing fine, the vet told me to switch his bedding from sawdust to hay while its healing to stop anything getting in it

Bought him some treats to say sorry but don't think he has forgiven me yet lol x
 
Aw, i remember the abscess and hole situation very well - the smell.. ew!

But it will soon heal and the fur will grow back and you'll know nothing more of it. I hope he is still well in himself

You should consider yourself lucky lol! But i do hope you feel better soon x
 
Poor Smudge! It can't be pleasant (no experiences with abcesses, but they don't sound nice for animal or human!) but at least he has started on his way to recovery :)
Hope he gets better soon and it heals quickly and cleanly :) xx
 
thank you :) i have experience with cysts and removals and i can tell you it was far from pleasant, he's a little grumpy at the minute, as you would expect, and bit my boyfriend yesterday but i let him off as he's poorly xx
 
Oh it's the same when I give my long haired lovely her haircuts! She rumbles, nibbles, chatters her teeth at me and nips sometimes! But I let her off cause she's in a grump and not happy :( And she's too pretty to stay mad at :p
Make sure you spoil him with lots of noms and treats, fresh herbs are always a winner! Don't be surprised if he doesn't seem to like you for a little while, it's the association of being handled with something unpleasant :(

Hehe, I'm not surprised! It'll be like getting him to trust you all over again! :( Poor little thing, but it's all for the best :)
 
Well smudge is looking alot better, his scab has come away in his fur and the hole looks like its healing nicely :) xx
 
That's great news! Stay diligent with it and I hope to see pictures of a much happier Smudge soon :)

apart from a big bald patch where the abscess was he's back to his usual self and i'm sure it wont be long before his furs back as well :) thank you x
