Hey
Everyone talks on here about their piggys popcorning but I’ve never seen mine do it. Is this bad/okay? They seem quite happy and definitely not depressed. :)

Some pigs are more excitable than others. It's also a behavior that is most common in young pigs (basically like little kids.) So if you adopt older pigs you may not see it as often.

Both my Finn and Lara do the popcorning dance.

Finn does popcorning all the time and I know he is a happy little boy. He can jump and turn at the same time, and he can do this pretty quickly. He changes direction completely while jumping and turning.

Our recent family member Lara started doing it very recently. When she joined our family, she didn't do popcorning at all. Understandably, she was hiding most of the time but she is much more active now. Lara doesn't turn fast like Finn, but she is vocal while popcorning. Finn is not as vocal as Lara is.

It took awhile to start seeing mine popcorn as well. Certain things definitely did it and one little guy is a very peppy little guy and did this first and lots more then the other ones. When I changed the cage to the large one we have now, they all did get much more excited and did zoomies when I hadn't seen it before. One of mine is around a year old now and he will popcorn for salad and treats or if he thinks he can escape the room he's in (monster :-)). He's a bit spoiled by my daughter with his free-roaming in her room.

I don't think they're unhappy if they aren't doing this though. It's not something mine do all day but do have play time and we'll see them doing this up and down the ramps with each other (around 7:30 pm-they seem to have little clocks.....).

Not a problem when yours don't. Not all piggies popcorn madly. it is mostly youngsters and more likely boars in my experience. Sometimes a popcorn can just be a little hop. ;)

With mine it’s really only Keziah who popcorns and that’s more like a big twitch accompanying a sharp wheek.
The other two are perfectly happy and contented piggies but don’t popcorn
