Lucky

They were in the run on the garden, when it was time for them to come in to bed. I let Lucky out, who can run around freely on the grass as she is so tame and will never ever go anywhere, and sits and waits for you to pick her up when she's had enough. I know Poppy is so skittish, we would have trouble catching her.

To get Poppy in, I usually block off the end of the run with the carry cage and the slab of wood that we slide in and out of the end of the run so they can't get out during the day.

Well I did just that yesterday, but instead of walking into the carry cage like she normally does, she just charged straight into the slab of wood and knocked it over, and was running all over the grass. As I knew she would, she jolted from me when I tried to catch her and dived straight under the fir tree which is EXTREMELY difficult to get under to catch her. I was the only one in my house and I was panicking so much, next door one side have dogs and the other side have cats, with a garden that has not been mowed at the bottom for the best part of 10-15 years so its like a jungle. I honestly thought for a while I would never see her again :...

She looked so pleased with herself, sitting out of reach under the tree. I had to climb under there to try and get to her but she darted out and got stuck in a plant so I was able to grab her then but she was still struggling and kicking, I think I probably hurt her when I grabbed her but I just couldnt let her go, :...:...

I feel terrible but I really did not expect her to knock the piece of wood over, that has never happened before in all my years of keeping piggies! All this was going on whilst Lucky was stretching out casually in the shade!

Such a fright, I was shaking for the rest of the day and soo upset. What a close shave.

Shes on the grass again today but I'm not looking forward to bed time..

Anyone else had an experience similar to this when they are left feeling terrible and so scared? Please help me feel better and not so silly!

don't worry, the boys have given me a few 'oxygen moments' (when i stop breathing and need some) :(|) i'm sure it won't be the last one you get!
naughty Poppy, making mum worry like that! xx

yup definatly! me and my brother (we are 11 and 14) were out side playing with splodge and marmite, my brother caught marmite but tripped over the pen and it colapsed and splodge made a run for it and stayed under the shed until we prized her out with a cabbage!
