Piggie Teeth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can anyone help with the rodentologist in Birmingham please. I have been back and forwards to the local vet and she has given up. Pig has had her teeth done three times now and lost a load of weight and I have been hand feeding her for nearly two months now. She s alot as well. She still runs about and goes mad for her syringe feed so I know that she isn't suffering and I DON'T WANT TO LOOSE HER. Can anyone help please. I am sure this is teeth related.

If you can travel to Simon in Northampton that I mentioned in the other thread, he is the one.

We use a vet in Wombourne who can do concious dentals:
Wombrook Vets, Rookery Road, Wombourne, Wolverhampton WV5 0JQ
01902 324 551

Please ring them for details and explain your situation. They also have a practice in Gornal. They open tomorrow at 9am, they do not do an emergency out of hours service, so ring in the morning.

Hope this helps

I've heard good things about Marie Kubiak, bases at Manor Vets Edgbaston regarding bunnies and piggies....

but if you;re prepared to travel to northampton, Simon Maddock would be my first choice for dental issues. I live in Sussex and am about to book in to see him with two of my own piggies.

As has already been mentioned, the very best vet to go to is Simon Maddock here in Northampton. He has worked wonders with so many dental piggies. I run a Sanctuary for guinea pigs with extra needs (mainly dental) and thanks to Simon they are living a lovely life with really good quality.

Thanks to all that recommended Simon in Northampton. I took Poppy to him yesterday along with her sibling, Ruby (who is also displaying similar problems but to a far lesser extent) and their teeth were done straight away.
Simon suspects that their problem may be genetic and we will have to keep an eye out for the rest of their lives. At last, I feel confident about their futures and with Simon as he knows his onions! Pity that I have already spent in the region of £200 on Poppy with the vets in my area with no results.
Poppy and Ruby are on Septin and Metacam and both seem to be showing signs of improvement and seem far happier. Still syringe feeding at present but they appear to be having a little go at the Timothy hay.
Back next week for some more treatment.
Once again, thanks to all for the "heads up" :)

Hi you

Hi Debbie,

It was nice to meet you too! It sure was a Guinea Pig Morning.

I got back at 2 pm after a short detour and Poppy and Ruby were welcoled back by their sister, Fucia.
They have all had a sniff and a sleep now.

Back again next week for Simon to have another look and check up on Poppy's mouth.

Once again, thanks for pointing me in the right direction as surely Poppy wouldn't be alive now.

Mark

Yes it was definitely guinea pig morning at the vets yesterday. In fact quite a Guinea Pig Forum meet up, what with us, Poppy's Mum and Hot Fox's husband and daughter. Another guy arrived, I think after you left, who although not a member, had found the details of Simon on this forum. He had travelled from Hertfordshire.

I am so glad to know about Simon, the vet practice is a street or two away from my sisters. The guinea pig lady has a shop a few doors away. She is good at cutting piggies nails and really cheap.
Next doors use her, I do Berts myself after cutting rats teeth and birds beaks his nails are easy...
