I'm thinking as my garden won't fit a shed for winter . My option was the garage but it gas no light coming in just seen a greenhouse. ..the type that's just poles and a cover. .. will this help keep the hutch protected re frost n cold or am I being silly. Not sure if ventilation will be OK? It gas a zip front and my hutch has a cover with zip fronts but will the two together not give enough ventilation? Would a blanket and winter hutch covery be better? Help

If it keeps the wind and rain off, go for it, it should also keep them warm, air will still circulate. ;)

Thanks @BossHogg. I wanted to make sure I did all I could to keep them as warm as I could. The hutch has a zip cover ..then the front of this greenhouse is zipped too. I was going to put a thermal cover over the hutch too and a blanket. ..then hopefully the greenhouse will keep all that dry. Should the front of the hutch cover stay unzipped when the greenhouse is zipped up? Want to make sure they are not suffocating like in a car. Anything else I can do? Will try and find posts on keeping piggies outdoors but seems most have the bonus of a shed... I wish! ! Mine are in a corner by the back door so not an option thanks for your advise

Also it's quite a lot taller than the hutch so hopefully the air will circulate round it

I am not much help here as mine only stayed outside for about 2 mnths if that ! And that was May / June time... Good luck !

The only problem could be on a very windy day like today the greenhouse may blow away as there is no way of securing it to the ground.

I was thinking that too... but it will probably sit with the legs of the hutch or at least 2 over the tubes at the Base or I could put bricks on the bottom tubes....just not sure if that will hold the lot or if the top would come away from the weighted down base?

Think my worry would be if they got hot, we would be having some sunny days till end of September. Also I'd worry about windy days, & the whole lot going. I keep mine indoors because we have red kites & buzzards around here.

I wouldn't be putting it up til winter time.. when the cold weather comes.. also it is a shaded corner of the garden but like you say there is always the risk. I would think at worst only the top bit would come away as the hutch too heavy to let the bottom bit move.. would keep and eye on it on windy days and if it looked dangerous take it apart a bit so no risk of it going anywhere. I just thought if I was keeping a duvet over the hutch this would help keep all that dry. At half marked price can only try I suppose.

i'm lucky too, mine are in a hutch in a shed, is there any way you could put one or two small brackets in the wall & attach the greenhouse cover to them?
or even the top of the top back supports of the greenhouse

or a couple of oven/cooker support chains attached to the frame &/or hutch so that it wont tip over or blow away, put some strong clear tape either side of the hole in the clear cover to add some strenghth to it & it shouldn't tear/rip any further than the hole thats been made for the chain to go through,

Cooker Chain Stability Kit - Toolstation only £1.75 at toolstation but available in most decent ironmongers/hardware stores

or if you have a screwfix nearby £2.04
(both you can just walk in & purchase items over the counter, they are not trade only)
Cooker Stability Chain & Hook

make sure the blanket doesnt get wet on top or it will make the roof damp & prone to mould, also on warm or sunny days after a frost for example you may get condensation forming, just make sure theres enough ventilation to prevent that forming &dripping down on the hutch.
