hey guys, was just wondering what everyone recommends as daily veg and portion sizes? I feed bertie 1/2 a carrot a day (spread out over the day) handful of dry food in the morning and handful at night and constant supply of hay, and I some times feed 2 green beans or handful of greens or something else at lunch, but I'm under feeding I think at the moment and I'm unsure what size portions to give him

It is supposed to be around a cup of veg each day per pig. The veg should include veg with vitamin c such a bell peppers. Carrots are high in vitamin A and sugar so should not be fed daily. I feel my 2 sows a small bowl in the morning between them then another small bowl in the evening. It usually includes some different types of lettuce (not iceberg), bell peppers, coriander and rotate between babycorn, carrots, celery, green beans and they get parsley very occasionally as it is high in calcium. My girls also love dill. Herbs are very popular with piggies :)

So peppers and coriander are good for every day but the carrots and stuff (the add-ons) I should rotate? (Sorry if this is a silly question, he's my first guinea that I've had to look after on my own so I'm really unsure and different books say different things)

Also with him being a skinny pig and hairless should I feed him abit more?

Have you read the thread(in this food section) on a good balanced guinea pig diet written by Wiebke? It is excellent. I know skinnies have a faster metabolism, and there are forum members who own them too, so hope one of them sees your question. I measure out my pellets in a large egg cup I know holds 50gs, fed according to the instructions on the bag for the age of the piggy. Mine have ad lib hay and a selection of veg/herbs/salad as recommended by Wiebke and others. Some of my foster pigs can be quite choosy, but I soon find out what they prefer!

Tagging @helen105281 @GloriousGuineaGirl as they have shinny pigs and can advise you best :)

I feed my boys..
Daily (each): spring greens, corrandior, a piece of cucumber and a piece of celery (my boys don't like peppers)
Treat (each) : a slice of carrot once a week, a slice, slice of apple, mini corn, a cherry tomato, dill, mint, parsley fresh peas. Etc

Yes they are both good for everyday foods :) I like to chop and change what I feed just to give them a variety. I am sure you will get into your own habits depending on what your piggies like :D
