Adult Guinea Pig
I came to clean out the piggies as usual yesterday morning and found poor Apricot barely moving and bloated, so got an emergency appointment at the vets and she's been there since.
They've been syringe feeding her with no improvement and ran tests on her today, and discovered that the gut stasis and subsequent bloat which she developed overnight has been caused by a uterine infection. She's now in ICU on oxygen.
I'm thankful that at least we know what we're dealing with and know how to treat possible sepsis. The vet is hoping she'll get better without the need for a spay. She's in the best possible hands.
The poor thing has only been with me for two weeks and she's technically still on foster from the RSPCA as her adoption documents hadn't been finalised.
Please send Apricot your positive vibes! She's a lovely pud.
