Positive vibes needed for my Penny pig

Penny has developed a head tilt :( She was fine last night but I noticed it this morning when I gave them their veg. It doesn't seem to be too bad right now, she'll straighten her head for a little bit but then tilt it again. Thankfully the vet was able to get me in within the hour since I have work later today. I'm hoping this is just an ear infection and that I have caught it soon enough. Keep my little Penny in your thoughts! I'm so worried. :(

Just got back from the vet, she thinks Penny probably has an inner ear infection. Vet gave us some Baytril and Metacam and some homeopathic stuff for the head tilt and we have a recheck in two weeks so hopefully this will take care of whatever is causing the head tilt. Thank you for your positive thoughts, Penny appreciates it! :)
 
Thank you all! She seems perfectly normal right now, eating her hay and avoiding me as much as possible :)) She's had her first dose of her AB's and at the moment I don't see the head tilt at all so I'm glad we caught it before it could turn into anything serious! Here's to hoping everything stays positive :)
 
Penny has taken a turn this morning :( She's been on her meds since Thursday and it seemed her head tilt had gone away by Saturday, but I can definitely tell she's not feeling well this morning. She normally loves taking her meds and she wanted nothing to do with them today and I had to coax her out for her veggies. Debating on whether or not I should call the vet.
 
I am sorry to hear she is not doing well. if she is not eating then you may have to syringe feed her. I really hope she perks up soon.

Update on my little Penny pig, we went back to the vet on Friday because she was making this strange raspy sound when I picked her up. Vet didn't see anything abnormal in her mouth/teeth and her lungs sounded fine, but thought that maybe everything was swelling up because of the ear infection. He cleaned out her ears and started her on some baytril ear drops and a different antibiotic. Although Penny seems bright and alert, so doesn't have a lot of interest in her food right now so I've been giving her some critical care to supplement her while she's not eating very much. I'm hoping this is just a side effect of the meds. I'm supposed to call into the vet tomorrow with an update so I'll mention that she isn't eating well. She's lost a fair bit of weight, she was 913g on 6-19 and now shes 858g.
 
Oh poor Penny. I am sorry she has lost weight and is off her food. Please eat little one.
 
Baytril is harsh and can cause anorexia in piggies - our Exotics won't prescribe it for this reason.
Have you used a probiotic as well to help balance the gut flora ? Always helps.
I'm sorry your girl is not well, they worry us to bits and understand your concerns but you're doing good with the feeding, 120mls over 24 hours is the recommended amount. Small and often is the best way I find (I've set my alarm clock every 2-3 hours overnight to feed poorly piggies and they've pulled through)

When I call the vet tomorrow I think I'll ask for a probiotic since she still seems active just not very hungry. I think the lack of appetite is due to the antibiotics she's been on. I've been feeding her as much critical care as she'll eat in each sitting and I've been trying to do it as often as I can although it's a little difficult with my work schedule. It's a good thing that she seems to really like the critical care :) I definitely appreciate all the positive vibes and I'm sure Penny does too :)
 
Antibiotics kill the good bacteria as well as the bad so can cause upset tummies, probiotics balance it all out :)
I wish Vets would tell people as I only found out by members on here how ABX can have nasty side effects and swear I'd have lost piggies without this knowledge as some have suffered terrible diarrhoea, anorexia and dehydration from Baytril.
Hope Penny is feeling ok and understand how physically tiring (and mentally) it is nursing them around the clock but it will pay off.
