Possibile Cage Extension For New Guinea Pig?!

Hey, I'm super excited as my hubby says I can make a second level on my current cage and then possibly get another piggy...but not until Christmas or just before arghhh! I'm going to keep pestering though hopefully before then XD
My cage is currently like this image.webp
I'm going to add a top level the full length of it and half the width, it's going to be wider at the sides then thinner in the middle so it's not too dark on the bottom, hubby is going to do some plans on the computer so will upload so you can see what I mean. Then I'm going to my local rescue and see if she has a boar that gets on with my other 2, the only trios I've had that have worked is when she's sorted it for me so fingers crossed. If not then my current two will just have an extra big home :) Excited I want it now haha!
 
In my head it's going to be really good but who knows in practice :p will see how much space it gives them once it's made as I don't want to get another it its not enough room, I did used to have 3 in the size it already is and they were gorgeous together but think I got extremely lucky so want to make it bigger just incase...altogether the floor space ATM iin cm squared is 11,250 and with the top it will be around 14,000 so that should be ok for 3 right?! I know the top doesn't usually count but as it's the full length they'll still have room to run etc...
 
Nothing more fun than making setups bigger! Can't wait to see what you do :D
 
Thanks, well it says preffered space is 1.2 sqm for 3 piggies and mine is 1.1 sqm at the mo and will be 1.4 sqm :) It depends how well they all get on really, as long as I can get a submissive one they should be fine but I'll only take the 3rd piggies if they seem like they will really get on, I could tell straight away with Rolo and Barney an nothing has changed yey!

Yeah he hated my other two, separately and together but Pacth is very dominant and Badger is deaf and gets confused with other piggies and just teeth chatters which sets Rolo off. That's why I'm going to take them to Avalon and see if he likes any others, obviously if he doesn't I won't get one but it was obvious straight away he wasn't going to get on with Badger and Patch, didn't even try rumble strutting or humping, was teeth chattering and charging straight away!

Yeah as soon as I get the go ahead I'll contact her so she can let me know as and when one comes along :) Last time I went in with a single one a my other passed away and she put him with a pair she already had
 
Oh cool :D She did offer us the other baby, but at the time we were going to get Cesaro neutered (we aren't now) and not just that, Cesaro seems odd with other boars, he chattered his teeth and ran at Tyrion. So Cesaro will stay next to the sows :) Some people have said he might snap out of it when he's older.

Sounds like Rolo ha! Yeah maybe he'll calm down, or just got to find the right boar friend. How come not neatering him now? Tbh I'd be scared of the risks
 
Exactly, it was causing me anxiety and stress, plus it's not like he NEEDS to have it, it's not a medical problem, it was just so he could live with the sows.

Yeah I hope we can find him a friend at some point or just leave him next to the sows, he does seem pretty happy next to them :)

Yeah that's what I always think, if something went wrong you'd feel so bad. I think if he's happy by the sows then leave him as you've said and then one day if you can find a boar he likes then great :)
