Hi,
We’ve been to meet two lovely girls at a rescue place today and have been offered them for adoption. One of the girls has a head tilt. She apparently had an ear infection previously that was untreated/not cleared when she came to the rescue. It is now clear and she has no balance issues etc but does have a head tilt.
My question is - are there any other issues this can cause/mask making it problematic for a newbie pig owner to take on such a piggie? My concern is that, as new pig owners, we might miss something and put it down to the head tilt that an experienced owner would spot.
What do you guys think? The piggies are 2 years old and both beautiful!

Hi! Untreated or undertreated ear infections can cause a permanent head tilt even when the infection has healed off. it has no influence on the overall health and life quality. It usually also doesn't cause any mix up with other problems.
See a vet if the head tilt is suddenly getting worse or there are balance issues, but that is frankly not to be expected if the rescue is using a decent and experienced vet clinic.

If you have concerns, could you ask the rescue whether they would allow you to speak to the treating vet about potential long term issues for reassurance?

Hello and welcome to the forum.
It’s good that you are taking such care to be a good piggy slave.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of the girls when they come home
