Good afternoon, I have a 5 year old Guinea, and today whilst cleaning her cage, on the pet training pads (beneath her straw) I noticed reddish stains.. Does it look like blood to you? Her poo is normal for the most part, sometimes I find some sticky, but not wet. She drinks on and off like she always has. Her food intake is sporadic since her sister of the same age passed in September. Her weight is down since we moved her in doors, when her sister passed, but not losing it now. She's happy, and squeaks when I come home with the fresh grass bag. Not sure what else to add. Thank you Ben

Hi and :wel:
I don't think that's blood; blood dries at a different speed to urine so there would be a distinct ring of a darker colour around the urine patch if it were blood. Hopefully others more expert than I will be along soon to confirm that.

Is that a disposable puppy pads? My piggies urine looks like blood on them. I think it's just oxidized urine. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in soon.

@Ben Daughtry That's normal oxidation, The chemicals in the pads make the urine go a weird brown colour. I remember panicking the first time I saw it on a puppy pad!

Blood tends to dry not as a solid colour but more of a darker colour in the centre which dilutes as the patch grows.

Hi!

It doesn't scream blood to me; rather stains from peed on poos or several pees on top of each other.

If you are really worried and especially if you see other symptoms indicate of urinary tract problems like giving sound when peeing/pooing, very red urine (it's not blood but porphyrine, but it will likely contain some blood), please see a vet.

Excellent thank you very very much. I'll keep an eye on her. As I said that's the only unusual thing I've seen. Much appreciated =)
