For quite a while now (over 6 months) I have noticed that daisy's eyes don't seem as clear and bright as they used to. We've had a bit of teeth chattering from her whole she's in the indoor cage when humans enter the room but during today's bonding session she was sat away from the other 3 teeth chattering. There was some tension between her and lily but then lily wouldn't leave her bum alone. I'm wondering if this is the start of cataracts for her. She's a minimum 4 years old but could be a year or two older

Best have her vet checked to confirm cataracts.

Changed behaviour is not necessarily an indication of cataracts but the ones that develop rather quickly can make a piggy feel rather vulnerable, especially during the transition stage, but so can old age and the knowledge that you cannot keep up with the youngsters. ;)

Old age cataracts are not at all rare. Several of my oldies have them, and I have also piggies with congenital (young age onset) cataracts.

I had one old boar with a cataract in one eye. He used to just walk into things sometimes. I just made sure i kept his cage the same layout. It didnt bother him much.

If i remember right. There was a grey blue tint circle in the centre of his eye

She's had a lot of changes this past week with accompanying Donald to the vets, staying overnight and then being in the indoor cage for a week followed by being rebonded with the other two so the teeth chattering could be displeasure at everything. I will keep an eye on her for now as she doesn't seem to be suffering and obviously with the bills I've just had for Donald I don't particularly want to go to the vet if there is nothing they can do and she isn't really suffering with them
