Hi everyone.
Some of you may know by 5yo piggy Maple has had issues over the past 4 months with her teeth and abscess. She has had 4 GAs over this time. She is doing well but the vet has filed one of her lower indoors down as he believe that was potentially causing the issues with the back teeth as it has been wobbly.

Anyway, today I noticed bloody urine on the newspaper. She has recently had some soft poos which I put down to the antibiotics and had been struggling to pass poos. Also drinking a lot! I cut out veg as wondered whether that was also the cause. She has been well within herself despite this. I'm now thinking the poo issues are down to her bladder.

She has been on and off baytril and metronidazole ABX and just finished a course last week when the poo issues started happening. I'm unsure how she could have developed a UTI being on ABX. I know septrin is the choice for UTI but thought the baytril would have prevented one occurring. Maybe it's cystitis?

I have a vet appt for tomorrow but any advice is greatly appreciated x

It could be cystitis or a bladder stone/sludge.

They'll probably treat with Septrin first and then move on to xrays if she doesn't improve.

You could ask for Metacam if she seems to be in pain, and possibly discuss using a Glucosamine supplement like Cystease if case it is cystitis.

Thank you. I have metacam here anyway for her dental issues so have given her some of that. She had X-ray's done recently and they didn't seem to show any bladder stones so hopefully they haven't developed that quickly! I will mention cystease to the vet :)
