So our boys have been having the odd tiff recently; usually when tulio the less dominant pig is feeling randy lol.

They get to free roam whenever we are home and have two of everything.

They have a hump you and usually is just a bit of lunging and loud chatter but no real issues. A couple scuffles but they're going through their teens so I've kept an eye but not thought much of it.

But today I had them out to weigh and do quick checks and it appears that Tulio has a little scab by his nose :(. I'm worried this is as a result of a fight when we aren't home. Now I'm worried because I know the rule is not to separate unless there is blood, which technically there was before the scab formed, we just didn't know.

It's only a minor looking scab.

Should I persevere and just monitor them?Neither displays behaviours to suggest they are anxious or bullied. We give them so much free roam that I don't think territory is the issue. When we are out they are in a 2*4 c and c with a 1*2 hayloft, again with two of everything.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Casie

Could you post a picture? It either is a scab from a possible bight etc or potentially fungal. :) boars can have scraps but this doesn't necessarily mean they'll need to be split up

Yeah sure.

Typical it's tulio, poor little mite is such a cuddly little softy

First - WHAT A CUTIE?!
Second- it does just look like a little nip to me and I would monitor the two of them for now. If it becomes more serious than I would look to separating.

Okay :(

Such a shame. I'm hoping it'll just pass with age. They are both approx 8 months old now so at the like half way point for the grumpy horny teenage stage!

I wouldn't be too worried about separating just yet as their age leads me to agree with you that it's probably just their hormones. I only advise splitting them up when they are seriously fighting and blood is being drawn and a piggy is in danger or not able to eat/drink because the other piggy is pushing it away. It can be a tense time when they bicker- my friend is just now realising this and had the sane thing happen but her 2 boys are okay again now and about the same age as yours. :)

They drive me mad! Haha. They've both been coming up to me this afternoon side by side taking veggies from me, happy wheeking to eachother and running about together. I have definitely noticed more confidence from Tulio since we piggie proofed the room so they have such a larger territory, he's much happier to approach us on his own terms where as before he was a bit more cautious. Thats kids for you though haha!
