Hi people iv just got rid of the patch of infection on craigs face but iv noticed the past few days his ears have been red and iv found some dry skin on his ear and a scab this morning. I'm wondering if this is the start of a fungal infection. I would like to bath them both today iv got the melt and manuka shampoo from gorgeous guineas, however, i am reluctant because davids eye (eye infection) isnt back to normal yet.

Do you think i should bath them both anyway? Iv found a dandruff patch on davids ear also.

If they were my piggies i would bath them, but ultimately it is up to you, by delaying the fungal will only get worse.....

How old are they? (I am sure I've asked before, but once again I've forgotten!)

The redness of the ears can be down to heat, and given the temperatures the last couple of days it's possible that the redness is related to the temperature. It can be related to fungal infections in some cases but thought I'd mention the heat just in case.

Given what you've described, I would be inclined to bath them; Craig sounds like he's in more need of a bath so it would be acceptable to just bath him, and wait to bath David until his eye infection has cleared up.

hi laura they are both 13 week old.

i seem to be having every problem under the sun with them lol.

iv bathed them both today with the melts and shampoo, i didnt get any shampoo or water in davids eye which I'm glad about. They both look like greasy gertys because i havent rinsed the melt off them proper, and iv put some lavender and myrr lotion on Craigs ears. i paniced because of craig having the fungal on his face (which now appears to of gone). x

Washing the Melt off does take a bit of practice, must admit I've had a few "porcupigs" in recent years. :))

hahah aaw. david looked looks like a hedgehog with hair gel on. do you reckon i bath them again next week? or just stick to once a month... my greasy little pigs haha.

As you're treating a possible fungal infection, bath again next week as per the Gorgeous Guineas instructions. Unlikely a third treatment will be necessary as it doesn't sound like an advanced problem.
