You need to see a vet for possible fungal or mites. It looks like the wound is a bite mark and often these are self inflicted with these conditions. Obviously you need to know what the problem is to be able to treat it appropriately

Ok thank you for the help anyway I doubt its mites as there no possible way he could have got them

Mites can lay dormant for a while but the most common type are hay mites. They are invisible to the naked eye so you wouldn't know if a batch of hay had them or not. Both of the conditions can just appear

Ok thank you I'm going to get him checked out thank god for my guinea pig medical savings

Ah yes the much needed savings. Mine are still trying to recover after Donald costing me over £1000 in May. Luckily bills that high seem few and far between. If it is mites a series of ivermectin injections or spot on treatments will do the trick. If it is fungal then itrafungol oral medication is the best treatment but ask your vets how much they charge as you may be better off getting a prescription and buying online. My vets charge around £140 I think for itrafungol but they charge only £20 for the prescription and I was able to buy it online for around £50 so saved half the price.

Hi!

Please see a vet. My guess is rather mange mites or a fight, as I can't see any sign of the crustiness and skin flakes that are typical for fungal - but I AM only guessing! These look rather like bite marks, but it is impossible to say whether they are self-inflicted or not.

PS: I am still recovering from my last spaying operation... :(

I think there self inflicted because the guinea pig he is paired up with rocky is so tame he is dominant male and some of the marks are in places another Guinea could not possibly reach

Got ricos treatment they said the cuts will heal but is there anything I can do to help him there very dry which are irritating him can I put coconut or sum on it
