I’ve noticed particularly when they are excited my boys are constantly grooming/scratching themselves.
Is it purely excitement?
There is no possibility of fleas and their fur and skin looks normal, so I’m not concerned (yet)

Piggies dont get fleas, mostly lice or mites. But I dont think you need to worry just yet, piggies grooming themselves in front of you is mostly them telling you how relaxed they are and how they trust you not to eat them while they have their head up their bum lol :)

Dot does this when excited, she pauses to itch and then popcorn off like a spring releasing. She scares herself sometimes I swear. I think you might be just looking for things because guinea pigs are like an un reliable car lol

Abigail and Rosie scratched and groomed quite a lot a few months ago. I was so worried I took them to the vets a couple of times for checks, they said they had no lice/mites or skin problems and soon after they both stopped and are fine again now. I tried the washing my face like they do, Abigail copies, Rosie just runs away.
