Hey guys my guinea pig gigi has started sneezing recently with only watery like substance coming out of her one nostril. Shes not stopped eating or anything like that I'm concerned it may be the start of a infection but I'm not to sure could I get some second opinions about this please 😅

Welcome to the forum

The only way to know for certain is to see a vet and have them listen to her chest.
While it is possible for piggies to suffer sneezing and nasal discharge due to simple dust irritation rather than infection, given a respiratory infection can become serious, it is always best to see a vet for a check first.

Make sure you switch from the routine weekly weight checks and instead weigh her daily so you can monitor hay intake more closely (hay being the most important part of the diet, but it’s impossible to gauge intake by eye) while you have concerns about her.

I hope she is ok

Hey! Thanks for responding. Yeah my first thought was possible dust from hay as gigi and my other one maple seem to both sneeze from the hay. I do shake it out and it says its dust free but thats never 100%. They get hay as much as possible and always eat it all. I will start weighing them everyday now :) there average weight is normal 1kg for maple or 1.1kg for gig.

Can you see a vet as soon as possible?

Yes but for now I think ill keep a close eye on her since she hasn't sneezed for awhile x and her breathing sounds fine now,I'm guessing it was hay that caused it since they are always digging around with their heads 🤦🏼‍♀️ any more signs pop up i will 1000%%!
