I really don't know where else to turn. This morning, when I got up to feed my pig, I noticed she wasn't acting like her normal self. She didn't move out of the corner and when I picked her up, I noticed that her heartbeat was slower than usual.
She doesn't seem able to moved her left legs and is kind of flopping around in her cage. She's also being very quiet, which is not at all like her. She's still eating and drinking, and she's alert. Her eyes are focused and she's very calm. I'm afraid she had a stroke or heart attack.
Because of the holiday, I can't get her into a vet until tomorrow. Does anyone know of anything I can do for her until I can get her help?

I'm sorry your going to have to phone the vet...
if shes still suffering this late on then she definatly needs medical attention...

if you phone your vets you will either go through to an emergency line or an answerphone message will read out a phone number to call...

but i really think you need to phone them atleast...
my pig had a stroke and needed to be put to sleep.... the neurological dammage was too much and it was to cruel to keep her going in her case.... but she did have a very bad stroke...

Aw I'm sorry to read this, and sorry I can't offer any advice except keep your piggie warm and comfortable and keep an eye on her eating and drinking, syringe liquids into her if need be, maybe mush up some pellets with boiled water, allow to cool, then feed. All I know is you need to keep the guts moving.

Can you get to an emergency vet tonight at all? If not I hope you can be seen asap and that everything works out ok.

Your piggie needs a vet tonight. As others have said, please at least phone your vets which will go through to there out of hours service or give you a number, she needs a vet I'm afraid. For now you need to keep her warm, and make sure she is eating if not help her eat, but please at least ring the vets.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Recently one of my piggies suffered what we thought was a stroke. Fortunately a piggy expert vet was able to tell us it was in fact an inner ear infection. My piggy had a seizure and though I don't want to scare you, you do need to get to a vet quickly. Thankfully my piggy is almost fully recovered though he has a slight head tilt which will be permenant.

I really understand how frightening it can be but please get your piggy to a vet. If you need to know a good piggy vet in your area I'm sure someone here can help.

Once again I'm so sorry to hear this. Fingers and paws crossed for your little one.

Amy
