Mr Audrey & Mr Marilyn
Junior Guinea Pig
On Saturday morning Mr Audrey was making a sort of rattling noise that we haven't heard before, so we immediately took him to a local vet, as I have read this can be a symptom of URI. He listened to his chest, and said it was a bit rattly in the upper region, and it could be mucus or it could be some trapped food. He gave us Baytril as a precaution, and told us to give 0.4ml once a day for five days. We heard the sound a little later in the day, but not nearly as loud, and to be honest not much since then, and not at all today.
This evening he has been at times making a straining/squeaking noise, apparently when pooing. His poos are a little softer than usual, but are not runny in anyway. I'm sure I have seen him pass some without the squeak. We've examined the poo and there is no blood.
Throughout this Audrey has a completely normal appetite, is eating fresh food, hay and pellets, and although is resting perhaps only slightly more than usual is still as lively as usual when he is up and about.
We are going to try in the morning to book in to see Anne at Goddards, but in the mean time does anyone know of any possible connection between the two, or give any advice on if we should administer the Baytril tomorrow morning or not?
thanks,
Jacqui
