Hi,
I have two female piggies Dot and Bramble, in November Dot had a URI she is the smaller pig, she was given antibiotics for a week reacted well and bounced back, but the pigs had to be separated while she was treated, they have been back together for a couple weeks and are doing okay with the occasional rumble strut. But today I noticed Bramble making a small squeak noise when she breathes in, there is no crustyness in her nose or eyes (which Dot had), not lethargic (like Dot was) and she is eating plenty (Dot wasn't) could it be a bit of hay? Their on blankets as bedding so it shouldn't be that. I'm not sure if I'm worrying over nothing?
Thank you for any response :)

Please keep an eye on her and see a vet promptly if the noise persists more than a few hours or if it is getting worse. Guinea pig airways are very small so you hear any little obstruction in them, especially as they can't breathe through their mouths.

What wiebke said above is spot on, but have you put any piles of fresh dusty hay in recently. All it takes is a few particles to go up a gpigs nostril and you can get all sorts of noises going on.

My sow is named dot too 😊

Thank you both I've had her out this morning and she now sounds raspy when she breathes so she is booked into the vets this afternoon, don't want to take any chances.

Make sure you get the vet to give an antibiotic known to tackle uri's and you must get some oxbow critical care and some oral syringes. Get quite a few. Good luck. Ive posted this on the wrong thread but if your pig does have a uri. This is what you need to do anyway👍

I'm always rushing sorry
