hi i need some advice, mushkins got a huge bald flaky patch on his side iv taken him to the vets and theyve said its fungel/ringworm so given me some stuff to rub on him once every 3 days.

he lives with gizmo but he has no sign of infection what so ever, but still I'm keeping a very sharp eye on him. so next thing iv been told to scrub their cage they live on vetbed is there any stuff i can use to wash it with to kill what ever maybe lurking in it?

Ringworm

One of my sows developed what the vet said was ringworm back in August. I was given Surolan drops which did not appear to improve it and then used Caneston cream, once a day for 10 days. The dry patches around her eye and on her face disappeared and did not spread to the sow that she lived with. I thnk I have read that if a cavy has had ringworm once they are then immune and will not suffer it again.

I beleive that they only usually get ringworm from a new pig (although I'm unsure how accurate this is!)

I thought Boris may have gotten it, but it turned out to be mites (which was treated with a course of injections). Only he and Hettie had symptoms, the other four girls were all okay. The vet tells me it may have been because their immune system was lower than the others so made them more suceptible. Maybe something similar with your boys, even though the problem is different?

Good luck getting it shifted, hope he'd better soon x
